Case Study: Designing BigFundr's Website in Webflow

At the start of the year, we were introduced to BigFundr, an investing platform specialising in property investment loans. They have been around since 2018 and have been expanding quickly to give better chances to retail investors to earn through their investments.I was part of their UX group as well to design their mobile app, admin portal and website. Did I forgot to mention that I am also UX trained? (this will be for another time)

Defining the process

As much as we are excited to start immediately, we need to be careful of jumping too early and getting everything wrong. We set up the process for them to follow as close as possible so that we don't miss anything behind.

Starting with user personas

We held a mini workshop with the stakeholders and directors of BigFundr to go through their lists of user groups and classify them into user personas to understand their users' pain points and needs.

We categorize them in accordance to their age group and go through what they might be facing at that stage in their life. BigFundr's Operations Director has done a good job by retaining all these information and it certainly help us in a lot of ways to fasten the process.

Introducing Wireframes

What I would like to emphasize here is that every designer should try to get the wireframes right before going into hi-fidelity designs. There are so many areas that needs to be tackled. For example, the user experience, the content and the layout.

Creating multiple design themes

We worked with their branding agency to ensure that we get the proper brand guidelines. Together, we came up with 3 design themes to show to the directors.

Putting it together on Webflow

Once we have gotten approvals from the directors, it is time to let our fingers do the magic on Webflow. Prior to this, they were using Odoo as part of their website and CMS, and it has gotten out of hand when the designs were not updated and it takes a very long time for changes to be made especially on the front end side of things. We managed to convince them to use Webflow just for their website and using Outsystems for their investment portal.

Separating these two platforms has worked wonders. Now, they can easily update their website as much as they want and see it go live in a matter of seconds instead of having to rely on developers to code the design for them.

With this two low code SAAS, they are pretty much ready to launch all of their products at the same time.

Of course, we got help from some awesome websites to ensure that we can come up with the designs fast and keeping the website tidy and efficient.
